I started attending Whitstable Baptist Church in 1983. My son, Andrew, had joined the Playgroup attached to the church and, as I wanted him to go to Sunday School, it seemed natural for him to join the Baptist Sunday School where he already knew some of the leaders.
On his first Sunday, I was invited to stay to the service - to be on hand in case he did not settle. I was so enveloped in the love and fellowship of the church family that I continued to attend. I had grown up in a Christian family and had attended Sunday School and church services into my early teens, but had lapsed in church going for many years.
However, I found the love and friendship of the people at Middle Wall came to mean a great deal to me and I gradually realised that this was indeed God's love being radiated to me. Having God in my life meant more and more to me and eventually I was baptised in 1987.
I was encouraged to share in playing piano and organ, which gives me great joy. One of my greatest pleasures is to accompany the Worship Group (originally known as the Singing Group) and, more recently, the Choral Group and hear their beautiful voices. The Singing Group recorded a CD of some of our hymns and songs and this was a very interesting and rewarding experience. (Hear a sample here)
God has been with me through good times and difficult ones and I would just say to anyone who does not yet know Him - take time to read Psalm 139. Verses 15 - 16 say,
“When my bones were being formed, carefully put together in my mother's womb, when I was growing there in secret, You knew that I was there - You saw me before I was born.”
He knows each one of us and only waits for us to turn to Him.
