We celebrate God’s purposes for His Church and we rejoice in the privilege of being members of it,
both in its worldwide dimension and in its local expression here as Whitstable Baptist Church.
As we lift our voices in praise in this service, as we join our hearts in fellowship around the Lord’s Table
and as we listen to God’s Word from the final section of the book of James,
we affirm again today our 20/20 vision – ‘To love & serve Jesus Christ and to become all He wants us to be’.
Opening Hymn: Glorious things of thee are spoken.
Opening Prayer: (A Prayer by Bishop Lancelot Andrewes)
O Lord, we pray for the universal Church, for all sections of Your Church throughout the world,
for their truth, for their unity & stability, that love may abound and truth flourish in them all.
We pray for our own church, that what is lacking may be supplied and what is unsound corrected;
and unto all men everywhere give Your grace and Your blessing, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our only Lord and Saviour.

Let’s remember in our prayers all those who are unwell in our fellowship and all those awaiting surgery
or medical treatments of various kinds. Let’s also pray for those who are carrying burdens of concern for members of their families,
for those who are struggling with loneliness and for those who are presently weighed down by worries about the future.
We ask, Almighty God and Heavenly Father, that they might know Your gracious intervention and divine grace bringing reassurance,
comfort, healing and timely help. May the presence of Your tender Spirit, the promise of Your unfailing love and the reality of Your daily care
enable us all to find fresh peace and hope. We offer this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Hebrews 13 vs20 and 21 – Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
the great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do His will,
working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.
