Today's Service

Sunday 28th June 2020

Introductory Music: Bourrée by Handel. (Janet)

Welcome, everyone to this service:

Our Call to Worship: Let’s ponder the following Scripture verses and lift our hearts in praise to God for His wonderful creation and redemption
– both accomplished through His Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1 vs15-17: The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;
all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Hebrews 1 vs1-3: In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Opening Hymn: Jesus is Lord! Creation’s voice proclaims it.

Prayer: 'Rejoicing in Creation’ (Eddie Askew)

I praise you.
Lord of creation.
You spoke the word, and all
Things came to be.
Lord of life.
You speak the word, and all
creation lives.
Echoes and shouts with life.
Your life.

Lord, open my eyes
that I may see You in creation power.

Open my heart,
that I may feel Your love,
unblocking the arteries of life
to flow without constriction, with life-giving warmth.

Open my mind,
that I may know the glad certainty,
the daily celebration, of Your presence.
Not just in nature's revelation,
but in Your Son.
One with You when life began,
and One with me as it goes on.

Open my lips,
that I may sing Your praises
as I walk the road of faith,
today.

Amen.

Prayer Points from Baiba and her husband:

  • Pray for the staff and leadership teams of universities and for our government,
as they seek to find ways forward in providing education for students in safe environments.
  • Give thanks for the students that have joined the online bible studies, the cooking collective, online cafes and online craft events.
  • Pray for me as I will be taking a sabbatical in July & August, for refreshment, study and opportunities to "visit" outreaches
of other centres online to gain inspiration and new ideas for Canterbury centre. Pray for the team running the CSIO outreach events in July.
  • Gavin has just finished his course. Pray for Gavin as he will be searching for jobs this summer.

Thank you so much for all your prayers and support which has enabled us to share gospel with many international students this year!
